New Drupal7 site

Hey, gang,

I was tired of arguing with the site's problems, and sooner or later wanted to update it to use Drupal 7 anyway. So today was the day. wink

All of it could use a bit more finesse. But at least, we can now attach pictures directly to any content type or comment. And it should get better, by and by, as I have time to finesse it.

For today, I just hope subscriptions work reliably, and the new site isn't too ugly.

Below's just an example of what happens when you upload an image at the bottom of a post/comment.

The only problem I've seen

The only problem I've seen with posting anything on the computer is that I post, and the system goes to the last page of comments. But, since I told it to show newest-first, it should go to the first page of comments... Could that be the issue, Beth? Or is it definitely something-with-iOS?

Captjdodge - Starfleetcommand.ws sounds fun. smiley My first was a sub-moderator and Friday night chat host on the SFWA (Science Fiction Writers of America) boards on the old GEnie network - pre-Internet.

I did a quick hatchet job to get the Drupal7 version up. It definitely needs some rough edges sanded off. We'll get there. I just can't put several more days into it all at once. Sorry...

The only issue I had was when I posted the picture of the greenhouse.  The authentication box didn't pop or load for me the first time.  Then when it did I misread the text the first time doing that.  Not sure if it was my eyesight or the head injury but the second time did the trick hehe.  I know what it's like to manage a forum.  When I was younger I helped manage Starfleetcommand.ws.  It was an old invision board.  I can only imagine the new versions would be confusing as hell.

Hi Ginger,

Hi Ginger,

I'm trying to post some pictures. I see them when I hit preview but the post disappears when I save. Is there a delay? I don't want to keep trying if they're going to show up....

Thank you, Katherine!

Thank you, Katherine!

Eh, the site is 6 years old, and Internet tech has moved on. An overhaul was overdue.

Thanks, Corinne - Search Box

Thanks, Corinne - Search Box found and returned to service. smiley Thanks re the look. Can hone that later, but this was possible quickly. I like the bigger serif font.

I've grown pansies from seed every year since I started growing indoors - need to start them in January. They don't do well with heat (though Pandora's Box pansies sometimes survive summer into fall). I wish there were more pansies for sale in September. Most winters here on the shoreline are mild enough for pansies to survive (sometimes even flower) through the winter, and those are glorious come spring.

I thought pansy season was short and over a few weeks ago, but they're still happy - I'll try to deadhead and photograph them later today. This weekend will probably be their heyday - it's supposed to get above 80°F and stay there for a few days, which is usually the beginning of the end.

Check out the pansy selection at Swallowtail Seeds. I think this year I planted flambé red, chianti mix, and mariposa peach shades.

I like the new look of the forum. One thing I can't locate is a search box..is there one, Ginger?

I ditto Val..those are the prettiese pansies I have ever seen! Colors pop!

Are they from seed ?

I met a gal who lived across the street from a beach and her pansies were annual and thrived in the hot sunny, sandy salty environment! I have shade and mine don;t last through the spring and are true Perennials. Go figure!

Yours are gorgeous..are they annual?

Nice greenhouse, Captjdodge!

Nice greenhouse, Captjdodge! I would so love a greenhouse...

Yeah, so I argued with the Subscriptions configuration again today. And lost the argument. I haven't figured out why it won't include any content from the actual items that changed on the website. But, it's better than it was. On the old site, Something Went Wrong to the point where it would send the same exact email out time after time, until I turned subscriptions off. So getting a notice that there is new content, without the content, is better than nothing. There is a link to Recent Posts on there - and that tells you what's new.

I'll try again sometime. But the site conversion took around 12-14 hours. Too much in one workweek.
