We are so excited that we finally received our AeroGarden Extra with 7 pods. This kit came with the salad greens. Believe it or not it has only been 44 hours and I already see sprouts.

The Health Fair was a lot of fun and the petunias and salad greens were a big hit! Of course the petunias were a bit shy until hours after the fair. Ha!picasaweb.google.com/112195605472506258218/HealthFair2011

I think that would be great. Oh wait, I've run out of garden space. Ha! I even pulled one of my experimental cherry tomatoes out and put it in a cup beside the AG so it can continue to get the light. I have to start petunias so that hopefully they will be in bloom for my up coming health fair. I will be attending the health fair at my church to demonstrat our little miracle gardens. :-) I plan on taking the 7 pod salad greens and the petunias in the 3 pod.

I suggest experimenting with different varieties. I've grown australe (sp?) from Johnny's seeds that was crispier. I'm going to be starting some soon so I have lettuce with my tomatoes! Enjoy! Beth

Thank you both for the reassurance. I picked some yesterday and quickly rinsed it and put it into the fridge for a quick chill. I'm so afraid of taking too much at one time but shoot. I just looked and the silly things are up to the lights again. Ha! Such trouble to have. ha!

Hi Td, I agree with Gisette. The texture is softer than outside - but the taste is great! Beth

Congrats, Tdgglobal! The AG

Congrats, Tdgglobal!

The AG lettuce is much thinner-leaved than the stuff you'd grow outdoors. It gets dry and limp real fast after picking - either winter dry air, or summer air conditioning. Eating it within minutes of picking it works best. I mostly snack on it, or harvest leaves in the last 10 minutes of cooking supper to serve with the meal. Mostly as vegetable dippers, rather than as a salad, since they're kinda limp to stand up to salad treatment. Romaines and my Korean curls are slightly stiffer, but still way more tender than they'd be grown outdoors. But ever so much easier to clean!

 Holy Moly they taste great!

Holy Moly they taste great! We just had our first harvest of the salad greens that we planted on 6/7. Sorry forgot to take pics to repost. They taste wonderful but I do have a question. The texture of the greens feels like they are wilted but they stand straight and proud. Is that normal or did I do something wrong?
