I also ordered Broccoli & Mung Bean sprouting seeds and decided to make go ahead and sprout them as well. I am interested in seeing if the Broccoli sprouts taste any different than the Broccoli microgreeens!

Day 1 - Broccoli and Mung Bean sprouting seeds soaking respectively.

jessi,

Not sure where you got the mung beans but those and adziki (sp? - the red beans) are very easy to find in chinese grocery stores in Chinatown / Canal.  It would be much cheaper than ordering them from the seed/sprouting company.

Oh cool! thanks for the tip Mary! I got them from http://www.tmseeds.com/ when I ordered a bunch of other seeds. I will have to take a trip tp Chinatown next time!

Ya, we chinese use those beans for making a sweet soup for dessert.  Also as a grain in some of the more elaborate porridge.

oh, yeah, definitely worth a trip.

Adzuki bean or called red beans in Chinese food terms are food and common used to cook sweet soup and make red bean paste for dessert. T&M sales 50g for $2.95.  You will likely get 1lb of dried beans in the neighbourhood of $1-2.  Just have to rinse them a couple of times yourself which I persume T&M did for you already since they are selling as sprouting seeds.

Not sure how much 1450 seeds of Mung bean (sometimes known in chinese food terms) as green bean weight but likely to be better priced in chinese grocery store too.  They also have already sprouted sprouted mung / green bean sprout and soyabean sprouts for sale at Chinese grocery stores.

It has been a while since I have been at Canal / chinatown since I tend to stay more in midtown or gramacy when I go.  Basically to find a good one, I use the same principle as finding a good chinese restaurant and look for one that is busy with lots of chinese people :D  Usally that has fresher stuff and decent prices.

wow! 1lb for a $1 or 2?! I am so there! I have never had the adzuki beans but probably worth the try!

I was in Home Depot today & I was soooo tempted to buy the very last Sprouter Tray they had but I resisted just in case I am not a fan of this sprouting thing. I figure if I really want to sprout then it would worth the investment. Right now, I am really sick of rinsing & draining 3x a day!

I buy bean sprout and Soya sprout occassionally but I tend to buy them already sprouted for $1 a lb or less as a vegetable.  Never been much of a fan of alfafa sprout but have not tried it in a long time.
