Hi, hi,

I'm playing with theming (redesigning) the site, on a spare copy of course. One of the goals is to make it easier to find what you want in here.

FWIW, I already enabled a new listing called "Popular posts", which gives a list of the most-visited pages on the site (it's under Recent posts on the left hand side menu.) Not an everyday kind of listing, but nice for newbies, and for regulars to check in on occasionally.

Anyway, I was wondering - how do you normally traverse the site?

  1. Recent posts - is what I normally use.
  2. Recent comments - lists latest posts instead of links.
  3. Direct to topic linked in email.
  4. Or?

One of the issues on my hit list is going directly to the first new post on a multi-page conversation...

Any other suggestions on finding and reading content?

 Hi Gisette,

I use recent posts.  But I think that if a grow log is edited and updated it doesn't show up as a recent post?  Anyway to make sure I don't miss anything?

Thanks,

Beth

Ah yes - thanks for reminding me, Beth. Also on my hit list... somewhere.

Hi Gisette! Is there a way to have the most recent comment/reply appear at the top, rather than having to page way down the thread from beginning to end?

Thanks, Carl

Welcome, Palatinegator!

My fingers do not want to type that... You're in danger of being... nicknamed, Pal. Sorry.

Well, yes! I could make all comments appear latest-first, instead of oldest-first. I can't make it optional, though, like a per-person preference. Well... not easily, anyway. What I'd intended to do was put a "Last" link right up at the top - one that actually worked, to go to the last comment, regardless of which page it's on. Unlike the kinda-unreliable ones we have now...

Any other opinions? We could just try it for a while and see how we like it, I guess - set all comments to be newest-first. Including the forums. It's actually by-content-type (book page inc. growlog, blog, forum topic). But I think they should all be one way or the other.

I'm game if you are!

Ye gads, Palatinegator - am I reading this right? You have nine Aerogardens?

No, 1 ea 6Elite+ and 3Elite. Grand total of 2. (Plus an assortment of Earthboxes and home-build equivalents.)

Beth - I think it's fixed! As a side benefit, should run much faster now.

Beth's request:

Aha! And Carl, I figured out how to do your request, too. Everybody gets to choose newest or oldest first on viewing comments, and how many per page. I like - thanks for the suggestion!
