The Mysterious Pepper Plant

On March 22, 2009 I planted  Lettuce Vivian but one of the sprouts turned out to be some mysterious pepper plant that is growing into quite a monster!

Unfortuneately, the lettuce planted with it couldnt get any light and didnt make it.  I will plant more of  that in water sometime this week.

Are you sure that's a pepper plant, Jessie? Does it look like one of your others?

I agree with Gisette - I'm not sure that is a pepper plant!

oh man! I dont know! Its larger than the jalapeno & the sweet pepper plants by leaps and bounds! I only called it a pepper plant cuz thats what Gisette said it looked like when it first sprung up.

Sorry, didn't mean that as an identification.   Just that it looked more like a pepper than a lettuce. Now that it's bigger... no idea what it is.

Just let it grow and see if you are growing a weed?  :P

Hi Jessi,

Are the leaves furry or glossy?  I say let it grow!

Let it grow here also, see what it turns into  - could be a nice surprise.

Heh. I'd have just yanked it when it was not-lettuce. The chance that it's anything useful or attractive is pretty small.

Come on...  Power of neglect, remember?  :P

Back in Singapore, a lot of my productive plants are actually not planted by us initially.  :P

Just thought I'd present an alternate point of view. Jessi's grow space is pretty limited there.

I am gonna let it grow & see what happens. It cant hurt and its still alive & well in the top left corner (near the ceiling) of my 6 foot tall gow tent so the space it takes up isnt much of an issue. I do so wonder what it will be! Worst case scenerio, a nice huge house plant?

You never know, it could be something interesting.  Actually my Mom's ground cherries were not planted by her but she think it was dropped by birds.  In Jessi's case, probably some seeds got mixed up at the seed company.

Well I cut down the plant yesterday to get rid of everything that was infested and when I cut it it smelled like a weed! Ew!

Good riddens!
