I salvaged my original, traded-in defective Aerogarden 3, by ripping out its aerator (and caulking the wire ends to keep them safe - thanks to Joyce's advice), and adding an external aerator. Since I only had 3 of the long mini pods, and they were still growing the English Cottage Garden, I also needed to buy another kit to get more pods. So - I love the salad greens kit, by far my favorite of Aerogrow's kits.

There are also some pictures in the English Cottage Garden glog (the two minis ended up sharing one aerator.) But this was the end. The garden didn't need to be retired yet, but I was about to go on vacation, and wanted to plant new seeds before I left.
