New Apartment & New things to Grow yay!

 Updated: May 6, 2010

Over the weekend I saw an inspiring filmed called Food Fight & it reminded me how important it is to eat organicly grown food. The truth is you cant get more organic than growing it yourself so I have returned. My garden of 2010 has been planted and today we have sprouts!

Planted May 4, 2010 from in Aerogarden Minis left to right... Bibb Lettuce, Yellow Tomatoes, Genovese Basil, Thyme & Romaine Lettuce. Radish, Broccoli & Arugula Microgreens in green trays & Baby Bibb Lettuce.

Updated: July 7, 2009

My garden is doing very well now! I have been enjoying my lettuces & micro greens. I have even planted a cucumber & a couple of tomto plants in AG3s.

Cucumber, Tomatos, Lettuces & Herbs    Micro Greens & Wheat Grass    Snow Peas in My Homemade Hydrogarden    Burpee Lettuce Vivian & Bibb Lettuce

The plants I gave my mom have done well. She has tomatoes & peppers that taste amazing!

Sadly yesterday she discovered that she now has spider mites! How do these things find us?! At least, she has the spray formula I made to beat them. I am looking forward to having alot pf pennyroyal to keep the bugs away. It has just sprout a day or so ago.

My infestation is completely gone! Yay! I have already begun a new crop of romaine, lettuce vivian, bibb lettuce, arugula, thyme, chives, tiny tim tomatoes, broccoli microgreens, basil, oregano and am waiting for my cilantro & dill to sprout. Its been a few weeks now & I have had no sign of mites and my gnat population is almost none gone! I used a homemade insectide recipe I found online & it works like a charm. It kills the buggers on contact. I used the recipe I found here but I only used 1 tbsp of oil instead of a full cup.

 Updated: May 26, 2009

I discovered today that I have a trouble infestation of spider mites which has infested almost all of my plants . I also broke one of my AG3 bulb when trying to clean the webs on top of it. Therefore I am retiring my gardening gloves for the time being. It was fun while it lasted. Until the bugs came

I got alot of use outta them

I got alot of use outta them too! I think they r so great! And I reuse the spongy things too  (after cleaning and hydroperoxiding them).

I cant wait for my Red Robins and Sweet and Neat. They supposedly give great yields of sweet tomatoes and only get to be 12 - 18 inches tall.

They should be here tomorrow. Waiting waiting waiting...

Yay, somebody else has a Park

Yay, somebody else has a Park Starts block. I sure get a lot of mileage out of those 3 blocks of styrofoam I bought for $8!

The bibb lettuces look great, Jessi. And a red robin tomato sounds small enough for an AG3 - not many tomatoes are!

Cilantro Seeds put on a wet paper towel on a plate in a plastic bag under my kitchen sink :) 3 sprouted so far.

and I put the sprouted seeds of the cilantro and a AG cherry tomato in a Park seed holder to get some "sun" while I prep a more permanent home for them :)

 Thanks Peat! Great to be

Thanks Peat! Great to be back in the Grow!

Yes G

You are right! And was quite a long tomato convo lol! I should get my seeds today - the right ones! Sweet and Neat & Red Robin. The Husky Tomato seeds came yesterday. How could I have just skipped over the fact that they give tomatoes 7-8oz  SMH

I didnt get the husky red cherry seeds b/c  they grow to be 50in and I decided to do this in the AG3. 2 feet is the max I can go in the alotted space. I am still considering the fire escape but I have to think long and hard about it lol!

P.S. We should have had that

P.S. We should have had that long conversation about tomatoes on the fire escape here instead of on Facebook. Only reason I suggested the husky cherry is because it's such a nice compact, high-yielding plant. And Mom liked the cherries. (Not a connoisseur of cherry tomatoes myself...)

I bought the one for Mom at a Lowes (Home Depot class store). But that was a couple years ago.

Ooh - cool link, Jessi! I may

Ooh - cool link, Jessi! I may contact them and see if they'd like a volunteer programmer instead of $ to hire one.

Good luck finding the stuff... I hate moving that way...

Yay, Jessi!!! Welcome back!

Yay, Jessi!!! Welcome back!

I have four AG's. Only one of them has a working pump - rest external pumps and airlines, like yours. One doesn't even have a working base anymore... Fortunately, Aerogrow now sells hood lamp power plugs.

Hey Everybody!

guess who's back! hee hee!

I moved to a new apt and finally got around to unpacking my AGs yay! This is a weeks worth of growth Bibb Lettuce growing hydroponically with my homemade water pump tubing assempbly (does anyone even rely on AG internal pumps anymore - not!) and microgreens of Arugula, Radish and Broccoli. I've eaten half the Alfalfa sprouts I grew too (not pictured here)

sorry for the darkness. I just took a quick shoot with my iphone 2nt.
