First try at AeroGarden!

Ok, first of all, I am a total noob at this AeroGarden "etiquette" but I'm not THAT much of a novice about plants. My mom got my AeroGarden at a garage sale for 5$! Probably the person who was selling it wasn't aware of the real price of this little miracle thing. Anyways, since it is early in the year, none of the market in my town have standard seeds like carrots, cucumbers, etc. Except for a hippy-ish style store at where there are some really granola stuff. I found there some mix seeds(sandwich mix, beans mix and brocoli seeds) but as the lady said to me there, those are most for germination(you make those grow only in water, never done that before), but I decided to try it anyway in my AeroGarden. And guess what? I plants those 3 days ago and the results are the photos I upload with this blog! This is growing furiously fast(except for the brocoli D: )! But I still don't have high hopes, because of the thing that the lady said, maybe those plants won't be good, maybe those will be a fail, of maybe not! We'll see!

PS: Sorry for my bad english, I am from Quebec :3

I sell a lettuce kit on

I sell a lettuce kit on IndoorSalad if you're interested. Reuse the pod baskets, etc.

The oriental mustard and clovers will probably do OK.

To be honest, I didn't even

To be honest, I didn't even know there was a starter kit with the AeroGarden haha! Unfortunalty, none of my local stores have seeds all time of the year. You're probably right saying the seeds won't grow well but it was worth the try :). The sandwich mix have some radish in it, some oriental mustard, some lucerne and some clovers. I have a gourmet mix too, there is some mung beans, some red clover, lentils and some white radish. I have a sprout that has double since last night! I cross my fingers but I don't keep high hopes about that :) Thanks for the help :D

Welcome, Braelia! A $5 used

Welcome, Braelia! A $5 used Aerogarden is a pretty good deal. smiley

You might want to try an Aerogarden kit first, for herbs or "salad greens" (lettuces). The kits include hydroponic nutrients. The sprouting microgreens and other seeds you mentioned, are plants that don't grow well in an Aerogarden. For assorted reasons (wrong shape, need too much light, etc.) Fun for now, but might not be very successful.

Lettuce is my favorite. I grow lettuce in an Aerogarden all the time.

I don't know what stores are available in Quebec - Canadian Tire? Around here (Connecticut), Ocean State Job Lots sells seeds all year.
