Hi there, i'm mato, from the uk, i'm currently trying to grow 2 types of tomato,1 F1 sundance sweetcorn and some kind of pepper
i stumbled upon this forum browsing google,i really don't know if i'm in the right place or not,but had a look around and thought i'd join up
if i learn at least 1 thing it wont have been a waste of time
Thanks
Hi gisette, i'm using a similar setup to peat's tent, this was the only place i could find someone growing tomato in one of these tents.
Hi, Mato - very cool, I hope you'll share with us! How big are these plants now?
Of course i will share
but please be gentle with me as i have never done anything like this before, One of the gd has been pinched out??(think that's the word) that's just over 18" tall, the other has been left to grow as it please's 26", the sweet and neat is also left to do it's own thing 14", the sweetcorn 49",the pepper is only about 2" tall so far. The 3 tomato seeds and sweetcorn germinated december 20th, just looked more closely and the sweet and neat has 4 small toms the size of my little finger
Yay, congratulations on setting tomatoes! That's really fast, if it germinated Dec 20th!
thanks, i'm chuffed to bits, how long do they usually take to produce mato's?
Started inside, then transplanted out... about 90 days to produce earliest tomatoes. Depending on size and tomato variety, usually takes around 40 days from setting fruit to eating fruit. But even to set fruit indoors without transplanting, 5 weeks is early.
I've been trying to upload a picture, this is the only way i can get it to work

Edit: Ginger edited to supply lightbox version of the above, just as an example:
Nice picture, mato!
That tomato's doing really well!
I put a lightbox treatment into your post, so you could "Edit" your post and examine what I did. Basically, when you click the Insert/Edit image tool icon on the editor,
- A dialog comes up on tab "Image Info" - enter URL of the thumbnail for the photo
- Click "Link" tab - enter URL of the bigger photo, and
- select Lightbox - step thru.
That generates the kind of pictures we usually use. Or you could upload... We don't do that as much. Your photo is already on the web, just need to refer to it.
Or, of course, you could insert the URL to the bigger photo on the first "Image Info" tab, and there's just a huge photo in your post, no lightbox.
There's a gory detail section of this site on sharing photos, if you care.
Thanks for the help with the pictures, i'm just reading through the guide and going to give it a go

Welcome, mato! So far you sound like our kinda folk.
You're not trying to grow corn in an Aerogarden, are you?
Tomatoes and peppers can be heartbreaking, but they can also work...
Whatcha wanna learn?
