Hi All,

One of my ag's won't power the pump.  Lights work, pump works and I checked the contacts - they seem fine.  Any way to power the pump externally?

Thanks,

Beth

I don't think so, Beth, but I'd call Aerogrow on that one. They might have a better idea how to fix.

Is this a water pump or air pump Aerogarden?

Water pump.  I'm going to use it to start seeds so I'll just put an airstone in it.  Just curious if anyone had any ideas..

Well, I just removed the one from my Deluxe. The wiring plug-thingy is attached to the bowl at the bottom with a Philips screw. Not at all obvious to me how you'd re-wire that. But I'm not much at custom electronics. Not even sure how you knew that the water pump still worked?

Hi Gisette,

I took the bowl with the pump and put it on another base - pump worked fine.  Again, no big deal for now.  I ain't rewiring anything! I'd rather call and see what they say.

Hi, Beth,

Oh, cool! That might be easy to fix then, if the base still has power. Maybe one of those things where you take an eraser to the copper contacts or something, like you do with wireless house phones.

Hi Beth,

From way back in time I stripped my AG down, "The Classic Laid Bare".

If you have access to a multimeter you could check the power to the pump from the circuit board, it's the small white connector as detailed above - I cannot remember if it's ac or dc, I think it's ac.

Another thing, there are two fuses on the board - check these as well.

If the fuses are fine and you have no pump power then it's probably the black relay or the control signal from the CPU board which switches said relay.

Please be VERY careful, the exposed glass fuse is at mains potential... Only someone competent should go in here.

You could power the pump externally.. however the voltage to the contacts is 15VAC ( I've measured 14.4VAC to the terminals.)

You would need a step down transformer of some sort or a "wallwart" and run the wires to the pump. Im in the USA so 120VAC to 15VAC.
