Hello everyone,

I need to purchase an EC meter and don't want to break the bank. I saw a post dated Jan, '09 and wondered if there are any new thoughts on which is the best for the buck. Thanks in advance.... HL

The only one I'd happily recommend, from personal use and consumer reviews, is the Bluelab Truncheon.

Now, there are a number of cheaper ones out there and they'd probably do a comparable job, but, I'd be hesitant in recommending you these as I've no experience of them. The Bluelab is more expensive but it's a quality product which will last you many years and is backed by a 5 year warranty, the only other company I can think of is Hanna - I use their pH meter and it's given me flawless service.

Good to see that you are going to buy a meter that reads in EC, stay away from the PPM exclusive ones as they cause nothing but confusion due to the differing standards that equate to them.

Thanks Peat. Yes, I've noticed there are cheaper ones out there. Maybe other folks have experienced them and would offer their comments. At any rate, I'll have to do something about a meter pretty soon in order to take full advantage of my AG. Thanks again!
