Classic Garden- Italian Herb Kit

My first Aerogarden!  I planted the Italian Herb kit on Dec 23rd '08. I switched out the Italian Parsley in this kit with Purple Basil from the Gourmet Herb kit. By Dec 27th my Oregano, Genovese Basil, Thyme, Savory, Garlic Chives and Purple Basil had all sprouted...that was quick, very quick! I have done a little outdoor gardening in my life and have never seen such fast sprouting.

On Dec 29th I was able to remove the Savory dome and today (Dec 30th) I am removing domes from everything except the Mint. The Mint just started sprouting today. The labels on the Thyme, Savory and Genovese Basil have all popped off, nothing a little glue won't take care of. The water level has dropped 1/2", which seems normal. The temperature fluctuates between 70F and 85F.

 January 2nd- Day 10

Day 10     Day 10

I still have the dome on the Mint. They are just starting to peek above the label, I'll take it off tonight. Water level is 1" below fill line. I never did end up gluing the lables back down- I like peeking under them every so often to see if anything new has sprouted.

Jan 17th- Day 25

Looking good. Had to turn the lights off a bit early for 1 night as we had company, and then accidently had the lights set for 24hrs for 2 days. The one tall skinny Basil was looking "boltish" even before the light mix up but it went crazy during the 24hr light cycle. I  I am going to give it a few more days, pinch it back and hope for the best. l will enjoy a couple of nice size leaves in dinner.

Edit: gisette fixed lightboxes (feel free to delete this comment )

Ooh, nice, Jewleeia! Lightboxes and everything!  Clearly you're doing great on your own, but feel free to yelp if you want some help (or just someone to vent at ).

Aw, they're adorable! Do you find yourself checking in on them all the time? I'm terrible that way... My daughter pulls me away - "Mom, it's OK, they'll still be here when we get back."

Edit, added: Yeah, I don't even bother to glue/iron the labels down much anymore. I peek too much.

Your doing great with your first AG jewleeia .

A little trick which I use for peeling labels... Heat an old knife up on your cooker, use the knife to press down on the peeling labels (just a few seconds) - the labels will stick themselves back down again.

Looking good! Just whack the dickens out of the basil, it keeps going and going and going. We've had some growing since August and it just won't quit, it overpowers the other plants in our herb garden every few days.

Yeah, they look great! Just pinch the very top off the tall basil, and eat the leaf shading the shorter one. Basil does grow faster than anything else in the herb gardens.

Thanks, will chop the basil back. What was up with my light boxes? Just so I know. I was up late posting and I don't think I checked to see if they worked, oops.
