Hi guys,

I went to lunch and ate these delicious peppercinosos. I thought I would just order the seeds online and grow some but I can not find the seeds. I have a couple peppers in the freezer. If I thrawed them first, could I plant them? Would they germinate?

Probably, give it a shot unless they're cooked.

If you have a bunch of the seeds (like a few to spare), you can do a germination test by wrapping a few seeds loosely in a damp paper towel, put it in a baggie in a warm dark place, and check it every day after a few days to see what they're doing, if anything. Pepper seeds may take 5-10 days to show anything, and they want dark.

jessijordan,

I took my mom to a gardening seminar a couple of weeks ago.  The speaker actually recommended storing seeds in the freezer to prolong their viability.

I know I bring home a some little Jam jars from hotels I stay at and My mom cleans them after consuming them and then use them for her seeds.  She puts the jam jars of seeds in the fridge.

Another method someone mentioned for germination is to use coarse vermiculite and water and put seeds in them until they germinate than plant them in seedling mix.  This then reduce the need to thin your plants.

Very cool MaryH! Thanks! i have tons of cute little glass jars with handle (from jam) that my grandma gave me. The seeds in question just went into the AG3 7 in some Miracle Grow today with out a test. I have a good feeling about them anyway. Here's hoping I get at least 1 pepperoncini out of it!

Another method that's similar to gisettes...

Damp paper towel again, place this on a plate and put your seeds on it. Take another plate, upturn it and place it over the first - this forms a nice seal which will keep the humidity high. Place this in a warm dark spot.
