Should I be worried about the condensation on the bag over the sweet pepper pot?

There isnt any on any other pot.

I get condensation in my pods in the AG & they say thats good! Does this mean there's some good germination happening here?

BB (not verified)

That's a good thing, they should all be like that. I cover mine with saran wrap and just leave a little section unsealed for air.

Day 19 - Finally decided to transplant the peppers and it wasn't easy. Most of the roots where tangled together and impossible to separate. Out of 10, I managed to separate 5.

I don't really know.  They droop, and are growing pretty slowly. It might be nutes.  Time will tell I guess.

Aw! I'm so sorry to hear that. I think thats y I havent done the hydro gardening outside the AG yet. It seems like trial & error is a major part of it.

I'm upset myself right now. I put an extra lamp near my green bean plants in the AG and apparently I put it too close and now on that side of the plants all the leaves are browning and dying Now I can only hope the plants with survive and recover. God only knows now if I will get any beans at all.

It also just discovered that I forgot to add water to the AGs! I have been watering everything else but the AG plants... how silly! Urg!

That's a lovely pepper plant! Are you going to prune this the way the AG peppers are pruned? (Is it 6th branch on a pepper?) For height management - to make it bush out instead of grow taller.

Well, I hadn't thought about it. New leaves just popped outta nowhere or so it seemed. I dont know much about pepper  plants but I imagine they will need space one way or another for the peppers to grow. I dont mind height as long as they stay within 2 feet of space I have between the 2 levels.

Interestingly enough I havent had to cut my tiny tim tomato plants either. They seemed to have stop growing up & have more branches growing from the bottom part of the stem. I did discover today that I have not been watering them as much as I should have. Even with the vermiculite they seem to need more water than less. I was worried about over watering but now I wonder if thats even really a concern considering the extra heat my apt holds.

P.S. Anybody talked to Peat? He's been MIA lately

Tomatoes drink a lot when they're growing fast, which is most of their lives. I really like the Walmart "plant spas" and other self-watering containers (reservoir below) for them.

Does the Buzzy kit say how tall the pepper plants get? They grow like the tomatoes, where when you cut off the growth tips (meristem) at the top, it allows new branches to develop below.

Haven't heard from Peat. He may be travelling.

I got these pots from Walmart & it does have a little reservoir that will overflow if I pour to much water but I still was being too careful. I just gave them plenty of water when I discovered the soil was not as moist as I thought it should be.

Buzzy didnt give me any instructions beyond the planting ones. I will let them get a bit bigger and then decide. They arent that big right now. Its just a close up shot.

You can't overwater from the bottom - can safely just fill the reservoir. (The soil won't wick up more water against gravity than the plant can handle.)

More on California Wonder pepper at Burpee and Park Seed. I love being able to research seeds at those two sites, if they have the item. Burpee has customer discussion, and Park is much better about giving vital statistics like plant height (usually also cheaper...)

If what I'm reading is right, and this is a pretty big bell pepper plant, pruning above the 6th branch will save you aggravation later. I failed to do the early pruning on my first round of AG peppers, and came to regret it greatly.

Thanks for the research! I do love it now too! I only have 4 branches on my pepper plants so far and will only end up keeping 1 plant in total. The rest are going to mom & grandma. They are not growing anywhere near as fast as the tomato plants did & they were planted the same day.

Maybe I dont have the pots you are describing. I cant put water in the reservoir, I dont think. I will try to describe it. Its like there is 1 big pot inside a smaller pot and there is just a little space in the bottom and if I fill it too much water will come out the 2nd pot but I imagine that excess water from the 1st big pot stays in the second pot.

Yeah, I know what you mean, re the pot. The bottom thing is essentially a saucer, not a reservoir, although it can act as a reservoir up to a point.

My peppers only seem to run about 1-2 weeks behind the tomatoes, when little. But they make up for it by setting fruit sooner. But their fruit is slow to ripen just like the tomatoes... Though at least with peppers you can eat the fruit before it takes 20 days to turn red.

This is the pretty top off the pepper plant that I had to prune today.

Its pretty and I was sad to see it go but Gisette said I'd be sorry later if I didn't and I believe her
