Welcome, prizm!
How big were the plants you transplanted?
I'm no expert to be sure, but my first thought is the water. If the water and nutes aren't the same at the time of transplanting, they'll shock and die.
My suggestion would be to start AND grow the tomato in the hydrofarm instead of trying to transplant.
I've got a tomato going in my 5 gal bucket system, and it's doing fine, but I started it in one of those little 'blocks' for hydo growing, then put that into the clay balls which were in the basket which in turn was in the bucket. Unfortunately, my brain isn't working properly today and I can't remember the names of these things. But most will know what I'm talking about and can help you. Try an email to Peat, or BB.
All the best,
J

I think Jude is saying she started her plants in Rapid Rooters, then put that into the hydroton grow rocks in the net basket in the hydroponic bucket.
Hello prizm63 and welcome.
I'm not entirely familiar with the Hydrofarm brand (it's not something we have in the UK), are you using a bucket type system with the plants put in net baskets and grow rocks?
Are you new to hydroponics or have some experience with it?
I'm trying to establish what you have and how we can help, don't want to patronise you in any way by telling you 'basic' things you may already know.

i dont know. I tried twice to grow tomatoes in my AG & both times it failed. The ones I planted in soil grow like weeds!
