Aerogarden 7 pod unit not bubbling much; light issues

It's gotten to the point where the water is barely moving, and we all know stagnant water isn't great.  Air seems to bubble out of the bottom, but when I attach the tube with the rock filter on the end, nothing really happens.  Some bubbles come out of the rock filter, but not very many.

I also bought replacement lightbulbs from amazon, and they don't work correctly.  They don't respond to the on/off button, and they don't got off and on automatically by themselves.  They are just always on, all the time.  I have to unplug the unit to turn them off.

I absolutely LOVE my Aerogarden and would like to fix these issues!  I just bought some great basil pods and was looking forward to making pesto. :)

Thanks, Ginger!

Thanks, Ginger!

So I can just remove the airstone tube and plant away?  I'll definitely give them a call if my husband fails to fix it, because ideally I'd like it to work properly.  But in the meantime I'd love to get my basil going.

Hi, BloomingLotus, welcome!

Hi, BloomingLotus, welcome!

I'd suggest calling Aerogrow support on those hardware issues.

But if air is bubbling out the bottom (some) with the airstone detached, it's probably safe to plant the basil. Worst scenario on the bubbles is that you need an external air pump, and if there's some air bubbling, lack of air will probably just slow growth, not kill the plants. It probably won't affect basil at all during the seedling stage. Basil grows pretty exuberantly.
