Hi All,
I picked up a gooseneck desk lamp with a full spectrum fluorescent bulb at the local "Big Lots" store. It was $22 and seems to do a good job of providing additional light for the toms. I actually bought two - one for the cucs, too. I usually stay away from the discount stores, but it is UL approved. I suspect they are reworked, though. Here are a couple of pix. Gisette, I know you mentioned how to set the camera take off glare - I forget where. And I don't know what to size photobucket pix on the page. I used to be a computer wiz back in the days of machine language and key punch cards. You all have passed me by-

Edit: Gisette turned thumbnails into lightboxes for Beth to look at.
Beautiful, Beth - nice and hefty looking. We bought the floor model of that exact lamp with an extra bulb for $25 at Big Lots. It is a great light source, a tad brighter than a Deluxe bulb - 27w vs 26w and 6500*K. Perfect!
Hi BB,
Did the extra bulb come with the lamp or does Big lots sell bulbs? I see that we can order bulbs for $8, but I swear I saw 27 watt bulbs at the hardware store.
Thanks,
Beth
Beth, the extra bulb came with the lamp, they had no extra bulbs. It would be worth a trip to see if you can find a replacement bulb but I figure these are good for at least 18 months. With little $$ purchases like this, the shipping will be a killer unless you ordered 50 or so.
Hi Gisette,
Love the lightboxes. Can you do that with photoshop? Sorry to be such a bother-
Thanks,
Beth
EDIT: Nevermind - I found your instructions-

What beautifully sturdy tomato plants, Beth! Cool lamp, too... Do you have places that sell those bulbs?
What I do with Aerogarden pictures (or any extremely-lit picture), is set the "Exposure Compensation" to -0.7. (You can play with it - try a series from 0 to -2.0 by 0.3's or something. Then I use the "fill light" tool in Picasa to brighten the dark areas without wiping out the bright ones.)
After you drag a picture from Photobucket onto your post, select the picture and hit the Insert/Edit Image tool button, and set either width or height to size it. (Don't set both - it will auto-calculate the other dimension based on what you give it.) Embedding a picture into a page, it's best not to use any wider than 520.
