2015 Outside Garden

Beth11's picture

Hi All,

This will just be a catch-all log for the outside garden this year.  Not much planted yet.  I'm hoping for a good growing season for everyone!

Eager to hear how those fall

Eager to hear how those fall Fantasticos taste, Beth!

Yeah, I do / don't want to fire up the AG yet. I think I should wait until all the diseased plants outdoors are gone at least, if not for first hard frost. Hard frost is kind of a random event here in shoreline Connecticut. Could be October. Could be January...

First tomatoes turning! Not
First tomatoes turning! Not ideal tomato weather this fall. Way too much rain this week. Cool and rainy this weekend, too. I expect the weather to warm up next week. Our first frost is end October. Main garden is done. That's OK, almost time to fire up the aerogardens!

Tomatoes are turning! Not the ideal weather for tomatoes this fall. Cold and rainy. I expect the weather to warm again. Our first frost is end October. Main garden is sad. Way too much rain this week. That's OK, time for indoor gardening once we get our first frost...

Hi Ginger,
Hi Ginger, Well isolated from the garden but still within wind distribution of any fungus. And the garden (about 100' )away is awash with all the normal late season fungi. This is just a tough plant. If the fruit is tasty I'm going to save seeds. That'll be F2 if I remember right. I may try those in the garden next year to see if it comes true. Need this plant in a bigger fruited variety!

What a healthy tomato for

What a healthy tomato for late September! Was it isolated from the other tomatoes, or is it just that good at fighting off the microbes?

FWIW, my Aerogarden fantastico never got sick with much of anything.

And the moonflower plants! 4
And the moonflower plants! 4 seeds started in April have produced so much mass of greenery and flowers! They've crawled up the roof, over the wall and under the deck. Impressive!
