Outdoor Beans '09

2009-05-09: Planted outdoor beans. In ground, asparagus beans and kentucky wonder pole beans. Plus a pot of bush beans. Their expected time to harvest, 50, 65, and 60 days respectively.

2009-05-21: Bush and pole beans finally started to germinate. Weather's been yo-yo-ing.

The "Tomato" Growbox

My 2nd growbox was primarily dedicated to tomatoes - everything else grew around that priority. But, it was still quite cold when the growboxes arrived - indeed, the tomato plants I ordered from Burpee hadn't even arrived yet. And when they did, I still kept them inside, because it was still below 50 degrees every night.

The "Squash" Growbox

I bought two Growboxes this spring, to try to bring an Aerogarden-like experience to the great outdoors, on my narrow 3rd floor bedroom balcony. These have now been growing for 3 seasons straight, though it's November now, and soon even the fall greens will have to end.
